Senior World Championship 2010 at Arco

At the moment Antonio Rosino and Gunnar Finnlaugsson take part in the 20th Senior World Championship at the North-Italian town of Arco. The 11th and last round will take place on November 6th. There are 224 men [60+] and 21 women [50+] competing. Meanwhile only 223 men as the 72 year-old Norwegian Erling Fløtten died over the board in round 3. Erling was the father-in-law of our KWA member Øystein Brekke and a famous politician in the north of Norway, in Vadsø - not far from Murmansk. Moreover he was chairman of the Norwegian Chess Federation 1997-98.

In the first round Gunnar played with Black against Dusan Rajkovic, the only player with 100% after five rounds.
