Persons celebrating an Anniversary in July 2010
The birthdays of July are traditionally rung in by our Nordic member Stellan Persson who celebrated his 74th birthday directly on the first of the month. Certainly he has made himself the most beautiful present by the publication of his book on the "Golden Era" which has recently been presented on our page New Literature.
Our Italian friend Romano Bellucci celebrated a "milestone birthday" as he completed his 7th decade on 9th of July. In his Venetian publishing house he can look on an additional little jubilee – the magazine Scacchi e Scienze Applicate edited by him - the chief editor - in a yearly rhythm is meanwhile 30 years old. Numerous chess books have been published by his publishing house, not to forget our "Festschriften" bibliography from the year 2008 which was born of his initiative.
Only one day later Jan van Reek turned 65. The Dutch endgame expert, study composer and book author (see www.rebel.nl/...) was still present in Antwerp for a short flying visit.
Once again we can greet Manfred Mädler in Dresden-Blasewitz who celebrated his 76th birthday in the middle of the month (on 15th), he belongs now to the group of our honorary members as well. We are glad to hear that the longest serving German chess dealer is still as fit as a fiddle!
Our last greetings go again to the Netherlands: Rob Spaans could look back on 45 years on July 18th, we already mentioned him last year as a new member. He too joined in our Antwerp meeting whereof we will still prepare further pictures/galleries.
Congratulations!
PS: You will find all previous birthday greetings in our archives!
