Tribute to Roger Klittich
Michael Clapham has written a short tribute to the late Roger Klittich:
Roger Klittich
I was very saddened to learn that Roger Klittich had passed away on 1st May.
I first attended the chess book auction in Braunschweig in 2002 when they had a copy of the book that I most wanted and which, at that time, was impossible to obtain. This was Bett’s Bibliography and I was fortunate to secure the book.
I have visited the auction a few times since then and, although Roger and his son Karl hardly knew me, they have always been very friendly and helpful.
The catalogues produced by the Klittich auction house, both printed and online, are tremendous pieces of work in themselves and they obviously have a great appreciation and knowledge of chess books.
Roger and Karl have been staunch supporters of the Ken Whyld Association and their twice yearly auctions are major events in the chess book lover’s calendar. May this long continue.
