The two documents summarized here in this work [the minutes of the society and its chess competitions in the region] are presented chronologically and completely (!) as facsimiles. Each page of the “Chronik Roland” with the internal minutes of the society is transcribed from Sütterlin into Latin script on the opposite page. The “Chronik Roland” (18 x 22) provides information about the years 1919 - 1925. The minutes are accompanied by digressions with further details from various sources, and major events in the Saale-Schachbund are appropriately explained.

The pages selected here from the book give an excellent impression of the Reiß brothers' chosen method, especially the print quality and readability.
