Alain Fayard

Alain Fayard lives in Rome but he’s genuine French, a strong chess player and an enthusiastic collector of chess literature. Till midst of the nineties he was an editor of "Europe Echecs" and as it seems, he has unfortunately got into loads of trouble (and court proceedings) with his biography on Joël Lautier (1993) due to an alleged breach of copyright. In the end the publisher Bernard Grasset was at his wits’ end and withdrew the total edition from the market. An unpleasant story which our friend would prefer to forget – but his book turned into a collector’s rarity by that.
