Persons celebrating an Anniversary in March 2009
At the end of the first quarter we can only mention two birthdays: we will start with our English member Mike Sheehan who besides makes his debut in our column – directly on the first day of the month he could look back on full seven decades. Particularly to English chess friends he will be known as the manager of the (antiquarian) book shop "Caissa Books" (who regrettably has no Internet presence). Those who attended our regional meeting London 2007 will certainly remember him – here is a photo of this notable event.
Our second companion is Robert (Bob) van de Velde, we could welcome the bridge expert from Amsterdam several times at our meetings (Dresden 2008, Wijk 2009): Now he celebrated his 72nd birthday on March 26th. We have already introduced him last year (inclusive of his short curriculum), in the meantime he has written the bridge contribution to our Lasker biography and currently he is preparing a separate monograph on Lasker & bridge – for this project we wish him joy of creation and every success!
Congratulations!
PS: You will find all previous birthday greetings in our archives!
