Robert Hübner 60!
Despite all the work on preparing the meeting at Brunswick/Dresden/Wroclaw we should not forget the birthday of our all-time second best German chess master - Robert would shout "Tarrasch" now.
Below a small picture gallery (archives Michael Negele):
-
Robert Hübner at the Spar/Himmelreich-Cup Cologne 1990 - first personal meeting as "inhabitant of Cologne". -
October 1995 - Robert Hübner giving a simul at the chess club BAYER Leverkusen; first visit of Solingen. -
The encounter Germany - Hungary at the Chess Olympiad Istanbul, 2000. -
Action in the Bundesliga (Solingen, 2000) -
Wijk aan Zee, 2007 - Robert Hübner (who like Emanuel Lasker has an affinity to the Netherlands) as commentator at the demo board. -
Berlin 2007, sitting at the board: our Lasker book sponsor Stefan Hansen. -
Toni Preziuso and Robert Hübner (Kórnik, 2007) -
Hübner's generously granted simul against the youth of "Turm Kórnik"
May Robert Hübner keep his position on "chess and the world" for many years and even extend it to the delight of all friends of good chess literature. He will always remain an asset to a "kingdom on 64 squares" which meanwhile proves to be very impoverished of individuality.
