New member: Jimmy Adams
We are pleased to welcome into our midst a new member from Great Britain, for Jimmy Adams (Hoddesdon) recently decided to strengthen the Ken Whyld Association. Not only on the British Isles Jimmy Adams is well-known as the editor of the Chess (Monthly) magazine, he also distinguished himself many times as an author, editor and typesetter of high-quality chess books; moreover - by translation from the Russian - he made several significant chess works available to Western readers. Obviously his main interests in this connection are game collections and tournament books, now and then he made an excursion into opening theory as well. As a collector of chess literature Jimmy is highly selective – therefore his collection is still manageable, and in any case he is very interested in chess history ...
Certainly we would be happy to meet Jimmy personally in London – maybe in the course of our regional UK meeting planned for the coming year!?

Dutch Trilogy
By this contribution we would like to recall that four years ago (2002-11-30) a first meeting of the "Amsterdam Group" took place, the signal for a venture which should develop something later to the Ken Whyld Association. So we welcome the opportunity of presenting here three of our Dutch members who could recently draw special attention to themselves – naturally for different reasons.

Yakov Zusmanovich's joys of fatherhood
Our US member Yakov Zusmanovich - we already know him from our birthday column - is extremely happy to become a father for the second time at the age of 46, on October 5 his daughter Erin first saw the light of day. Yakov already has a twenty-year-old son from the same marriage to his wife, accordingly a remarkable gap of 2 decades between these two happy events. He doesn't think it is impossible to make his daughter the next Judith Polgar!
Congratulations!

In memoriam Rudolf Reinhardt
* 1937-02-02 † 2006-09-02
A bitter loss ...
Our chess friend Rudolf Reinhardt is no longer with us. After he had seemingly felt much better he completely unexpectedly passed away in his family circle in Berlin on Saturday, September 2, 2006. I think I spoke last to him on the phone in July 2006, after two light strokes in spring he had sounded quite optimistic. Just last week he had delivered a contribution to the coming Nimzowitsch issue of the cultural chess magazine KARL, so his creativity seemed to be restored as well. A fatal false estimation ...

Prof. Pagni's new CC bibliography - some help required!
We are pleased to welcome Prof. Carlo Alberto Pagni (Milano) as a new member of the Ken Whyld Association. Prof. Pagni worked as a Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at different Italian universities (Turin, Milano, Cagliari), owing to his studies and his professional duties he was early compelled to abandon OTB play which he had practised at first. From 1970 he applied himself to correspondence chess which is shown by numerous tournament participations and publications (articles, books, reviews).
