New Literature by Tony Gillam

Two more publications by Tony Gillam have appeared. The first is another booklet (number 111 already) in the series Rare and Unpublished Chess Tournaments and Matches. It covers tournaments held during 2016 in Amsterdam, Arnhem, Budapest, Utrecht and Vienna. The second is a collection of games, many with notes, of Paul Felix Schmidt, including a career record and brief biography. Schmidt was one of the world’s strongest players in the early 1940s. Please note that this is not the book originally intended. Another book on Schmidt will be published soon by Michael Negele.

Obituary of Walter Shipman

On February 28th Walter Shipman passed away at the age of 87. The friendly and popular International Master, a lawyer in his professional life, will be sadly missed. Especially our USA members may remember him participating in the KWA meeting in San Francisco in 2009.
