Unfortunately the formerly announced event The Milky Way -
    International Chess Festival in Selfoss, Iceland
- planned for October
   2008, had to be cancelled. We hope for the future which maybe will give us
   once again an invitation to Iceland.


  
 14-31 October 2008
     Chess World Championship Anand - Kramnik in Bonn, Germany

    - a possible play-off on 2/11/2008
    Venue is the Bundeskunsthalle - unfortunately there is a high admission
    price (day ticket 35.- Euro, already to buy in advance).

    On 15/10/2008 (2nd game) Michael Negele will probably have a panel
    conversation with Helmut Pfleger about the "Pleasure of Thinking" - the
    second chess world champion Emanuel Lasker.
    The Emanuel Lasker Society plans a visit to Bonn from 16 to 19 October,
    though there is an event of the CCI Germany in Brunswick at the same
    time (17 to 19 October).
    So you are spoilt for choice!

    our group for the second.

   5 Years of Ken Whyld Association - A Special Event of the KWA in
    Brunswick

   On Friday afternoon, 3 pm the Klittich family has invited to a ceremony
   "5 Years of KWA". Apart from a preview of the 54th auction on 28/29
   November 2008 (see below) and the hospitable catering a chess gem
   is planned with the help of our Californian member, IM John Donaldson
   who had already pleased us with a lecture in La Tour-de-Peilz.
   Continuation of the journey to Dresden on Saturday morning, 8/11/2008.
    
   

8-11 November 2008
    General Meeting of the KWA in Dresden, Germany

   Start of the meeting on 2 pm at the Schillergarten, a restaurant
   situated directly at the Blaue Wunder - this famous Elbe bridge connects
   the two Dresden districts Blasewitz and Loschwitz.
   Blasewitz is a marvellous exclusive residential area where also the
   Chess House Mädler is situated, we plan to organize our traditional book
   market there.
   Monika Mädler has already sent us a List of for the most part inexpensive
   lodgings (guesthouses, holiday flats/vacation apartments and hotels).
   An excursion to Wroc
ław (Poland) is planned from Monday, 10/11 to
   Tuesday, 11/11/2008.
