Persons celebrating an Anniversary
in November 2006
|
This
November three seniors of our community are due to receive our greetings.
We will start with (Ed)Ward Stoffelen – we already
met him last year at this
place – now he celebrated his 72nd birthday on November 16th. Naturally
the tireless Belgian study expert joined in the 49th World Congress of
Chess Composition (July 29 – August 5, 2006) in Wageningen conducting
both the Open Solving Tournament and the 30th WCSC (World Chess Solving
Championship). For decades he has also been a member of the Schaakkring
Boris Spassky Schilde being not only active there as the endgame editor
of the club magazine Schaakk-Schild but also as a OTB player
as has been verified by numerous successful participations in the club
championships since 1970 and many places in the top three (his last
success was the 2nd place in 2001). Before Wageningen Ward also attended
our Ströbeck tour, here a "photo
of evidence".
From the last years (2004 and
2005) the Moscow chess historian
Isaak M. Linder is familiar to us as well, he could look
back on 86 years on November 20th. In addition to our previous expositions
we can still offer you an interesting online article from his pen: Romantic
Italian Chess and the first Russian Masters.
Uwe Durst from Bad Pyrmont makes his debut in our column,
he celebrated his "72th" on November 25th. As far as we know
he is above all a collector, but for a long time he has also been working
on a bibliography of German chess.
Congratulations!
PS:
You will find all previous birthday greetings in our archives!
