Persons celebrating an Anniversary
in June 2005
|
This
month we have to note only two birthdays: at first we are pleased to welcome
Matias Jolowicz from the town of Salzgitter (Lower Saxony),
he looked back on 56 years on June, 2nd. As he tells us at his business
homepage he
came to Germany (Hamburg) only as a 16 year old youth, for he first saw
the light of day in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. After his study of
medicine in Würzburg and the hospital time in Salzgitter-Bad he set
up as a general practitioner in Ringelheim, a part of town of Salzgitter
where he still lives today (see his private homepage
for photos of his family). In addition to chess and collecting chess books
he cultivates some further hobbies like computers and reading as well as
riding a bicycle or motorbiking; the photo below shows him together with
Michael Negele in the garden of the auction house Klittich-Pfankuch.
Claes
Løfgren from the Danish town of Randers celebrated
his special day on June, 19th – he is now 51 years young. A
brief introduction already occurred in our Members'
Publications, and only a few days ago we could personally welcome
him in Brunswick (on the occasion of the Klittich-Pfankuch auction,
combined with a regional KWA meeting).

But Claes is not only active as a collector and a chess writer, he is also
a dangerous opponent in OTB play as is revealed by his Elo rating of about
2150. Recently IM Bernd Schneider was made aware of this fact at his simultaneous
display in Brunswick where Claes was one of the two players who was able
to beat the IM from Solingen:
