Persons celebrating an Anniversary
in April 2010
|
This time we start with our senior member Lothar Schmid,
he celebrated his 82nd birthday on May 10th. His activities in the chess
scene are still remarkable, and last year too we could repeatedly spot
him in the chess news. So Chess
Grandmaster and Karl May publisher Lothar Schmid was a guest in Leipzig,
there was an interview with Lothar Schmid at ChessBase – Karpov-Kasparov-Revival,
and he participated in the symposium at Valencia
2009. We add an historical
photograph which now counts 60 years: Lothar Schmid kibitzing at the
game Unzicker – Euwe at the Chess Olympiad Dubrovnik, 1950.
I can only briefly mention the next two birthdays, as to both I have no
new material at hand: our Hungarian member Iván Bottlik
(Budapest) turned 76 on May 18th, and Bernd Segebarth
who lives not far from Schwerin in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania looked back
on 65 years on May 27th.
Congratulations!
PS: You will find all previous birthday greetings in our archives!
